Quotes and project of the Confession of the Guerrilla Girls

Brian Renderos

Quote: "Women in America Earns only 2/3 of what men do. Women artist earn 1/3 of what men artist do." (39)

Meaning: To be honest this statement is true, since is rare to see artwork created by women in a male dominate world. For some men get more exposure than women due when the perform in music or create art for the public to enjoy.

Quote: "galleries shows no more than 10% women artist, proclaimed another poster, above some of the most prestigious galleries in New York City"

Meaning: Talented artist manage to make it to the prestigious art gallery from New York City. However, only a few women artist are mention in the art gallery, even though there are many talented women artist that apply to this gallery.

Guerrilla Girls Project
One of the project that was I found interesting was the 1985's "What do these Artist have in common? In this artwork it shows a list of artist's names. However, all of the artist are male and none are female. The Guerrilla girls created this to show their disagreement toward the art world not allowing female artist work to be shown or display in Museums. Like work women are treated unequal towards the art world. At the end of the list of names the Guerrilla girls would say, "They allow their work to be shown in galleries that shows no more than 10% women artist or none at all" Meaning that rare to see a woman artist getting exposure due to their art work.

Another project that I found interesting was the 1986's "It's even worse in Europe" In this artwork it shows that not only the United States have this lack of women equality, but also, Europe suffers from this lack of Equality. Not just that, but it can show how in most country their could be a lack of woman equality. For example Saudi Arabia suffers from the lack of equality. In that country women aren't allow to do certain things and go to certain places. At least the United States everyone whether they have a different nationality, belief or other can have some sort of freedom to do things or to follow a religion.
