Meaning: When people looks at a commercial of the latest technology, fashion or toys, us (the consumer) are influence in buying it because of following the latest trend. People are obligated to buy because the consumer does not want to fall behind on the latest trend.

Seeing is Power chapter 1-2
Quote: "Technology like film, television, and radio were not just the feature of our daily lives of a young generation-they had become an integral part of how one understood the world" (8).

Meaning: In our daily lives we are expose to many thing on television and over time commercial, television shows changes over time. This is due to the trend that is happening during that time.

Intervention Chapter 4
Quote: "Rather than telling people exactly what I think, the art experience becomes a platform for a dialogue, even if it’s solely an internal dialogue”(89).

Meaning: Art can be interpret in many ways, like in words, drawing and art.With art it can be a platform of hidden messages or meaning that can go against current event. People are able to protest by using art.

Meaning: Many people are concern about maintaining their image , social statues and wealth in order to fit into society. This similar to how people would buy the latest clothing and other things in order to fit into society.

John Berger Chapter 7

Meaning: For example rap music or rap music video that has the main them of being a gangster or being in prison. Many people would listen to these type of music due to the trend and viewers that it receives.

Susan Sontag

Meaning: Most artist create art to show the truth and their disagreement on current vents. Art is a way to help people express their feeling on certain things.
