Acts of Resistance: Activists, Interlopers and Pranksters
Mrs. Doris
My project will be about religious tolerance and why we need to have religious tolerance in the world today. The topic of religious tolerance is crucial to the acceptance of other people’s belief. Religion has been a big part of history especially in today’s world. As the we went from generation to generation religion and the religious beliefs of others have changed due to how much more open we are to things we people thought were sins or an abomination back then. I chose religious tolerance because I believe everyone should take other people’s religious beliefs into consideration even though they are completely different from our own beliefs also I am fifty fifty on the topic since I strong agree with being tolerant of what others believe in, I also think people can reach the same level of understanding one another if religion never existed in the first place. Religion brings purpose and a whole new meaning in people’s lives but religion has also greatly separated people greatly due to how different everyone thinks because of what they have learned from their own form of religious text but what if religion was taken out of the equation everyone would only be separated by looks and language alone and with the world of today it would make understanding one another a bit more easier. The main topic for this project is to show scenarios in a video on how a situation could happen if you aren’t religiously tolerant of one's beliefs versus when you are tolerant of one's beliefs. The message I would spread out for my audience would be to religion is a sensitive subject and a lot of people devote their life into what they believe in and being tolerant of that would bring the acceptance and unity everyone strives and fights for. A start on how I can spread my message to my audience is by submitting my video into a film festival which no doubt the viewers in the audience watching my video will take note on the message I wish to spread amongst everyone of all different religions. An audience can become engaged with this project by putting themselves in the position that they see in the video and if not by that then just by spreading the message of religious tolerance they are engaging on what the video is trying to show the audience the right way to handle tolerating another’s religion even if it’s the polar opposite of their religion. This project will fit in my portfolio and professional aspirations quite well. I could use the message of my video about religious tolerance and turn it into any media outlet I can think of an make it interesting for all types of viewers. This topic can be made into a podcast, documentary, movie, etc. This video can fit as the foundation of my media career if that were to happen. It can sprout into a flower of ideas and every pedal is an idea I could make into a reality. The movie the abolitionists is about how the abolitionists tore the nation apart in order to create a more perfect union. Men and women, black and white, Northerners and Southerners, poor and wealthy — these passionate anti-slavery activists fought body and soul in the most important civil rights crusade in American history. What began as a pacifist movement fueled by persuasion and prayer became a fiery and furious struggle that forever changed the nation. This is what could happen today across the world instead of a nation. The abolitionists worked together and looked at each other as equals despite all of their different religious beliefs about one another. America today invented modern religious tolerance and the spark that started religious tolerance was our very own first amendment which states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise of thereof”. America is an entire mixing pot of different religions all mixing together as one. That’s my proposal for my project.
