Intro

Who do you think you are?

What is your role in media consumption, critique and/or media making. How much of who you are is measured against media examples and images? How much of our common experience involves shared mass media images, events and stories? Use several media examples to illustrate your description of your relationship to media. Can you think of ways that the media covers activists, acts of resistance and protest? How do you feel about this relationship? Use examples to illustrate your answers. Your blog post must be at least 4 paragraphs and you must include at least one link and ONE IMAGE.

Out of all of the social media accounts out there, I use Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Pinterest. I tend to follow a lot of law enforcement organizations, military veterans, cars and food. I am all about serving my community and giving back to those who gave so much to me on a federal level. A lot of these images shows individuals training physically in many different types of conditions and often they put up motivational quotes. These are the things that got me thinking on what I should do in order to achieve my goal to work for the DEA. It is very common for us to be exposed to mass media images because we go through them on our news feed every single day.
There are many ways that mass media sends their message to the pubic. For example many people would post pro-communism posters in Western cities. Along with the posters, many people were able to voice their opinion over the radios and participate in protests in public areas. There is a strong relationship because many people just want to voice their opinion in a way where they can get attention in a mass level.
In the current world, the relationship between the police and civilians is not strong. There is a lot of people who believe that the police is there to lock neighborhoods down and opress with the use of police brutality. There is the belief that police officers are “pigs” and that they have too much power and don’t care about the people they are serving. On the other side of the argument, the people who did serve talks about people not understanding what it means to serve and that the reality of putting your life on the line every day is extremely difficult to grasp. There are constant arguments about the police vs the people on social media and on the streets.

My hopes in the DEA is to help bridge the gap between communities and law enforcement. I aim to help rebuild communities that are ravaged by narcotics and violence in a way that people are more open to work with us. I do believe the fact that there is fault at both sides and that this divisiveness is tearing communities apart. I want to be in a position where I have the resources to help people in a better way so that they can actually trust us. I have a lot of faith and get into Public Relations so that I can be able to promote community outreach and change the way we handle the enforcement of narcotics across the Nation.
