| Raising Astrological Awareness |
The topic i chose to present will be astrology. It is not your usual topic to discuss with bringing awareness, however i feel like there are many of people who have the wrong conception on what Astrology is. As a philosopher it is my job is to help people become aware, I want people to understand the essence and purpose of Astrology. I have always wanted to create my own theory on this subject because many people diminish the purpose of astrology because they are simply not aware of what it is. They know its a couple of traits and information provided about a certain zodiac sign, but what they don't know is that it also includes the time and location that a person was born. In order for true accuracy with determining someones personality and traits, one must know their birth chart. Birth charts are a map of where all planets were located around the sun, in the moment you were born. Astrological chart reading is capable of revealing not only your personality, but also your strengths, weaknesses, and in general help you understand yourself more.
I have always been interested in Astrology but it wasn't until four years ago i realized it is more beyond the surface. The best way i describe Astrology to people is a 'Rabbit Hole', it is a discovery that people are often astonished by because like i stated, they were never aware how many different branches there is to Astrology. I have impacted people around me with astrology and now they apply it to their life as well. Astrology has truly helped me get more of an understanding of myself and helped me become more aware of me, helping me understand why i think and operate the way i do.
Even without having access to your full birth chart, just learning about certain characteristics can help you evolve. You learn not only about your positive traits but also about your negatives, which can be an aid in helping you work on those negatives. Besides learning about yourself, it also is an assistance with helping you understand other people as well. Such as friends, and in romantic relationships. With Astrology you learn about who is compatible with you, this can be a helpful tool in avoiding unnecessary relationships. There has been a numerous amount of times when i gathered enough information about a person, i have been able to assume their zodiac sign and normally i am right. If i was not accurate on their sign, they at least belonged to that same element.
Astrology is usually dismissed and thought of as 'foolishness' or something 'made up' because people do not have the proper knowledge about astrology. Did you know astrology, similar to astronomy involves planets and the universe? Your birth chart, is a chart that explains where all the planets were located in the time of your birth. For ex: you may be a Pisces, but feel like you may not get along or share the same characteristics as a Pisces. That may be due to your birth chart, you could possibly have a rising in Taurus (which will help you be more grounded and practical) and your moon ( which is supposed to be the origin of emotions) could be an Aquarius. Your birth chart is more elaborate than this example, however due to your rising and moon sign you may be more rational than a typical Pisces.
Each zodiac sign is also broken down into different element groups, there is Earth, Water, Fire and Air which all represent the way a person mind and emotions operate. Earth is supposed to represent Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn which is supposed to be the practical group. These people are usually realistic and down to earth with their approaches. The Fire element represents Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, people who fall under this category are usually vibrant, lively and warm-hearted, they usually march to the beat of their own drum. Air element represents Gemini, Libra and Aquarius, which all operate in a 'intellectual' approach. Air element people usually live in their minds, and can be social butterflies, these people are often likable and popular because a lot of their energy is put into other people.Water element is Scorpio, Cancer, and Pisces, these people are said to be intuitive and emotional, making them highly in tuned with energy and vibes they receive.
Every element named all see life in different perspectives. They operate due to the element, if you think of Air, you can see it, breath it but you can not really grasp it, which is ironic because the people belonging to this group is all said to be unpredictable just like air. I can keep going on about astrology and never stop, their are also other groups each zodiac sign represents 'within' their group.
Each zodiac sign that is in the beginning of a season is considered a 'Cardinal' sign which consists of Libra, Cancer , Aires and Capricorn, these people are considered the 'initiators' of the zodiac and are said to be 'bossy or demanding' due to their Cardinal category.
Next are 'fixed' signs, which represent all stubborn signs in the zodiac Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius. These four signs represent being stabilizers and fall in the middle of each season. Last but not least are Mutubale signs which are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces, these are the flexible people in the zodiac, they have the ability to adapt to changing situations. The information i provided is just half of the information that astrology offers, as i stated previously it is a rabbit hole consisting of so much information related to the universe as well. I highly recommend anyone who reads this post to take astrology into consideration and see if you can apply it to yourself/life.
There is this Professional astrologer i follow on Instagram, by the name of Chani Nicholas. She helps elaborate what planets are in retrograde within a sign, which provides insight to the energy revolving in the world currently. Nicholas specializes in every division of astrology and has been featured in several publications for her work. She is also a Feminist and supporter of LGTBQ rights. Below consists of the project i provided on my social media account. I posted 4-6 traits for each sign and asked of my followers to vote whether they agree or not. I received for majority zodiac signs more agreeing than disagrees.
