Acts of Resistance: Activists, Interlopers and Pranksters

Intro

Who do you think you are?

What is your role in media consumption, critique and/or media making. How much of who you are is measured against media examples and images? How much of our common experience involves shared mass media images, events and stories? Use several media examples to illustrate your description of your relationship to media. Can you think of ways that the media covers activists, acts of resistance and protest? How do you feel about this relationship? Use examples to illustrate your answers. Your blog post must be at least 4 paragraphs and you must include at least one link and ONE IMAGE.

I play a decent role in media consumption whether its from checking my status on twitter, snapchat, instagram, or reading an article online. Other forms of media I consume are news outlets and sports shows such as CNN and Sports Center. The evolution of technology and the way we absorb content has drastically improved over a few decades. Consuming media has become more accessible than it has been in the past due to all the new devices constantly being created.

I'd be lying if I was to say that the media has never influenced or impacted me in anyway. The media is a gateway and more importantly an outlet to the world, whatever is happening in real time can easily be accessed on our cell phones. Over the I've been influenced by the all the trends, styles, and fashion that have been showcased online or on television. I'd say the impact that mass media has had over our society is extremely crucial, It can dictate and control what we're seeing and how often we're seeing them. With mass media being a gateway or an outlet to the world most events, breaking news, and stories tend to be consumed more through media. My relationbship with media can either be described as a dependency or necessity, I depend on it on it to keep up with current events and I need it to gather information for school and other things.

For example, If I miss a football or basketball game I can easily turn on my TV and catch up on it on Sports Center and that goes for any news outlets I occasionally watch. I believe that the media is a very much needed neccessity in our everyday lives. Any breaking news or event happening anywhere on the planet is showcased through the media, with the easy access to it everyone can be informed on issues concerning their community or country. Many protests have found their way to be filmed and displayed thorugh mass media mainly because of the reason behind the movement and the impact it has or will have. The Charleston shooting, nine people were killed including a pastor by a 21 year old man, news as tragic and important as that needs to be spread and I feel the media does a good job at it.
