Who am I?
Well, I like to believe I am a young woman on the road to discovering my purpose in life. I like to think that i am quite enlightened and advanced for my age or maybe the age of 25 is when everyone's minds and intellect begin to peak. Social media is part of my daily routine, it has become habitual for me to check my Instagram feed. I have a feeling that i am missing out on something if i neglect to check it, although i do recommend social media breaks, for the same exact reason. You never want to become reliant on social media because majority of the feed is just smoke and mirrors. Although i stay mindful of that, sometimes its still difficult to not dream of obtaining certain desires triggered mainly by Instagram.
I believe in life there needs to be a balance with everything that is done, whether good or bad. Which life is all about, Ying and Yang. Notice everything in life has an opposite, and i do not believe that is just by a mere coincidence. Duality was created purposely, and i believe by keeping a balance in life, things will become easier.. because lets be honest, life is not a walk in the park. There is a majority of our youth, who allows the media to really consume their mind and distort their reality. Adolescents will try to obtain these things that are constantly advertised on social media because they believe it equates to a certain social status. One thing about me is i always, since i was little, tried my best to stand out and be unique from everyone else. I never found pleasure in trying to blend in with everyone and follow what everyone else was doing. I am a Libra, and by default we are born in the beginning of a new season, which makes us Leaders, because we initiate change and are not afraid to be independent.
Years ago, when i was a little younger, i used to partake in other social platforms as well, but i get tired of things easily if it feels stagnant or requires too much effort that is not worth it. I joined Facebook in 2010 but only kept my profile for about 7 months, then deleted it, i really just did not connect with it at all. I also had a twitter account, which i still have but no longer use. I notice that if you do not follow a lot of people on your media platforms, it will lackluster. I was too lazy to put in any effort in following a whole bunch of people for entertainment. However, I must add, that twitter is a nice platform to be very random and vent. Instagram has stuck with me for about 8 years now, and although it can become quite repetitive and boring, it definitely can be more entertaining than the other two.
Iam going to discuss the negative effects of social media opposed to the positive. I think everyone can agree that social media is just apart of our new age, but i don't think it is good for our generation. It disconnects real interaction and connection, making things way more easier and accessible. Young men lack chivalry, Young women lack class, due to the 'behavior' that is 'advertised' on social media. The sad part about it, is that social media will just continue to evolve, which means the human race will become less and less personally interactive. I do, however love You-tube as it is very versatile and is a great tool to recapture televised events, or even obtain shows, events, movies that are no longer televised, as well as educational programs.
The media definitely covers activism and protestants, but its never portrayed in a positive way. Seems like every time someone is fighting for their rights, someone is thrown in jail or killed for their beliefs. America is supposed to allow us to have freedom of speech, but it doesn't seem like they really want us to have this freedom. I can not think of many activists, However, there is one person in mind that i really admire, she is super intelligent, eloquent, and confident in her beliefs and standing up for people rights.. Miss Angela Rye. Angela Rye is a political commentator and Attorney who is often seen on CNN. I frequent her commentary on you-tube as she makes great points in her debates, and is all about Female, and Black rights. You can learn more or see more of Rye's commentary on her official website.
